Movie Prop On Tour

Ted Turner and Turner Network Television (TNT) produced a television film about the Confederate Submarine CSS H L Hunley, which was first seen the summer of 1999. The producers built a scale replica of the submarine, based on the information available at the time. Although larger than the actual submarine it gives one the claustrophobic feel of the cramped quarters the brave crew of The Hunley had to endure. Ted Turner donated the replica to be used for tours around the country to help generate funding for the Hunley recovery project and educate individuals about the submarine.

The replica will be on display at  various Bi-Lo stores in SC, Ga., and Tenn.
